A new biscuit manufacturer has opened up in Blackburn after receiving support from a start up support programme.
As well as baking traditional biscuits, the Lancashire Biscuit Company offers customers a service where they can have their company name or logo, printed on to a twin pack biscuit to strengthen the brand of their business.
The Lancashire Biscuit Company is run by John Gardner, Debbie Chinn and Chris Rose, who also have a business packaging and selling hampers and gift packs promoting local produce.
They saw a gap in the market for great tasting tray baked biscuits – “simply good biscuits” – and attended a free Start Up Boot Camp through Pennine LEAP, supported by the European Regional Development Fund and delivered by Regenerate Pennine Lancashire. The Start Up Boot Camp looks at important aspects of running a new business including sales, marketing and taking on staff.
Pennine LEAP helped the team develop a robust business plan and establish contacts within the Pennine Lancashire area.
John said,”Pennine LEAP’s start up boot camp has provided us with a local insight on starting up and in addition, Pennine LEAP helped us to access finance – a £5,000 growth voucher towards essential start up equipment”.
Chris added “Pennine LEAP has also provided us with a business mentor for the next year which will be really useful. We can ask them for impartial business advice as and when we need it.”
Rona McFall, Enterprise and Employment Manager at Regenerate, said:
“If you have spotted an opportunity for a new product or service like the Lancashire Biscuit Company, or have recently started trading, contact us for free support to get your business off the ground.”
