Sisters are doing it for themselves – thanks to Pennine LEAP

Being able to export their amazing baking equipment is the icing on the cake for two sisters Stephanie Clarke and Fiona Cross.

They are hoping to taste success and lots of it after their Pendle based company Purple Cupcakes began designing, importing, distributing and exporting a diverse range of baking equipment and accessories.

They have been given specialist help as part of Pennine LEAP, a free programme supported by the European Regional Development Fund. It is targeted at residents from Blackburn with Darwen, Pendle, Burnley, Hyndburn and Rossendale looking to start or grow a new business.

The sisters contacted East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce International Trade Team, one of Pennine LEAP’s partners, for specialist support. They have been provided with extensive guidance and mentoring on their global supply chain, including support with pricing and international selling.

Stephanie has also attended a series of FREE international trade seminars for new businesses exporting for the first time and how to avoid the pitfalls.

Purple Cupcakes currently employs two people and has plans to increase their international trade activities to create further employment opportunities.

Stephanie is one of over 100 individuals who have accessed free start up support from the Pennine LEAP programme and its unique partnership of high growth specialists. “The free help we have received from the Chamber as part of Pennine LEAP has been invaluable. They have guided us every step of the way and we are very excited about the future. I would urge other businesses to consider exporting and get help from the experts in the field.”

Pennine LEAP is being delivered by Regenerate Pennine Lancashire in partnership with SELNET, Community and Business Partners, Enterprise4All, East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, and Winning Pitch.
