A Rossendale manufacturer has created 60 new jobs by investing in new equipment and relocating further aspects of the business into the county, after backing from Rossendale Council helped them secure a government grant.
Interfloor in Haslingden is Europe’s largest manufacturer of carpet underlay and flooring accessories, supplying companies such as Carpetright, B&Q and John Lewis and exporting to over 70 countries worldwide. The company has made a £3m investment to expand its polyurethane foam underlay manufacturing capacity to meet rising demand.
To help purchase necessary equipment, Interfloor sourced nearly £150,000 through Regenerate Pennine Lancashire for the project. Regenerate secured support through the Government’s Regional Growth Fund (RGF) and Rossendale Council supported the application, recommending its approval.
Rossendale Councillor Andy MacNae, Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, visited Interfloor on December 3rd to see the effect of the funding on the organisation. He was shown around by Interfloor’s HR Director Gary McEwan, who worked alongside Regenerate on the project.
Councillor MacNae said: “Rossendale Borough Council very much welcome Interfloor’s expansion in Haslingden. It will not only have an impact on their business, but local suppliers too. It’s good to see Rossendale businesses take advantage of Regenerate’s RGF grant support and we’d urge others to do so while it is available.”
Gary McEwan said: “Regenerate have supported us with our growth plans, which will help us significantly increase the manufacturing capacity of our Polyurethane products. We needed to move fast with the project, and Regenerate responded quickly to help us. We’ve already recruited 60 staff and protected another 175 jobs by investing in our Lancashire base and look forward to growing the business further.”
