Expert Conservation Support for Wyre Council

Growth Lancashire created a comprehensive suite of conservation area appraisals and management plans for Wyre Council. The team demonstrated a distinct understanding of the need for clear, concise and well-structured appraisals that serve both the local community and planning officers. By distilling the defining characteristics of each of the six conservation area into a straightforward, user-friendly format, residents can refer to them to plan sympathetic and appropriate alterations, while planners can assess proposals with efficiency and confidence.

The accompanying management plans highlight key issues and set out practical, achievable recommendations that have the potential to make meaningful improvements without imposing financial burden on residents, communities, or Wyre Council. Growth Lancashire’s flexibility and depth of expertise were evident throughout, accommodating additional work at short notice thanks to their skilled heritage specialists.

As part of the project, they also reviewed existing conservation area boundaries, offering informed recommendations to ensure these areas remain relevant and reflective of their special character. Operating as a non-profit company, Growth Lancashire provides a cost-effective service that places quality at the forefront, delivering real value to Councils.

Fiona Riley, Planning Policy Manager commented, “Growth Lancashire’s responsiveness was a particular strength – queries were dealt with promptly and their helpful solution-focused approach supported the delivery of the commission.”
