Situated at the very edge of Clitheroe’s retail centre, Holmes Mill had been empty since 2010. There was concern that despite its Grade II listing, it could gradually fall into disrepair and be demolished for retail development or housing to capitalise on the site’s considerable land value.
A new partnership has been launched in Pennine Lancashire, which could see local organisations benefit from funding to preserve the area’s rich heritage. Pennine Lancashire has received priority development status by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
Regenerate Pennine Lancashire has won funding from English Heritage to develop a Heritage Strategy to help attract investment into the area.
