CE directives club celebrates a decade of Pennine Lancashire businesses workshops

22.09.11

The North West Club EuropŽen (NWCE) celebrated its 10th anniversary of helping businesses in Pennine Lancashire stay up to date with the latest changes to European regulations on September 21st.

Most people have seen the CE mark on their favourite products, as a recognised mark of quality and compliance with European standards. NWCE have been holding twice yearly workshops in East Lancashire since 2001, in partnership with staff from economic development agency Regenerate Pennine Lancashire.

The 10th anniversary workshop, which covered the implications of changes in television broadcast signals to electrical products and improvements in Electromagnetic Compatibility Standards, was attended by 20 representatives from Lancashire businesses and held in Regenerate’s conference room at the Globe Centre, Accrington. The NWCE is a service provided by Wigan based company Directives Advisory Services Ltd (DAS).

Stewart Mackay, Managing Director of DAS, said:

“We have been running the workshops in Pennine Lancashire for 10 years, and they still generate interesting discussions from those that attend. We provide a relaxed atmosphere to learn about up to date regulations and help ensure their products are compliant, safe and lawful”.

Regenerate Business Adviser Mike Almond, who organised the event, said:

“The informative NWCE events offer manufacturing or technological businesses the ideal opportunity to find out if their product meets standards. Many businesses find it critical to stay on top of regulations, rather than be faced with an unexpected hurdle near the end of product development.”

Regenerate runs the Lancashire Innovation Network, a European funded service that provides businesses support, including direct assistance with new product development and implementation of new systems of management to help businesses grow.
