Funding deal to support Multihog relocation

12.08.14

A distributor of a new range of multi-purpose carrying vehicles has secured a £9,000 grant to support its relocation to Darwen.

Multihog UK secured the funding from Blackburn with Darwen Council as part of its Assistance to Industry programme.

Assistance to Industry grants are delivered on behalf of the Council by Regenerate Pennine Lancashire. They are awarded to companies to help them expand and are related in part to the number of jobs being created.

The company, founded in 2010, has moved from the village of Hoddlesden to a site off Charles Street in Darwen and purchased a workshop ramp, racking and a plant trailer.

Two jobs have been created by the expansion.

The Multihog is a new vehicle which is developed and manufactured in the Republic of Ireland. It has the appearance of a tractor and can be fitted with a wide range of attachments for various uses.

Maureen Bateson, Blackburn with Darwen Council’s executive member for Regeneration, said:

“This is exactly what the Assistance for Industry grant is for. We are delighted that we have been able to offer Multihog help with their move to bigger premises and for job creation. We are also pleased they have stayed in the borough.”

Multihog director Nick Leadley added: “Having experienced year on year growth since we started the business, almost four years ago, we knew this time would come and are grateful for the step up provided by the council and Regenerate to continue on this road whilst at the same time remaining local.”
