Our heritage team has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality professional advice across the public, private, and voluntary sectors. We support local authorities with planning and development proposals involving heritage assets and undertake broader conservation work including Conservation Area Appraisals, Local List updates, and Local Plan involvement.

We are also experiencing increased demand from private-sector clients for Heritage Statements, Heritage Impact Assessments, listed building applications, and development advice.


The Role

We are seeking a Heritage and Conservation Assistant to join our specialist team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about heritage, conservation, and the historic environment, and keen to develop their professional skills.

The post holder will work alongside our lead specialist and wider team to deliver expert heritage services to a broad range of stakeholders. Work will include:

  • Providing advice on development proposals affecting heritage assets
  • Supporting Conservation Area Appraisals and heritage-related local authority projects
  • Assisting with Heritage Statements, Heritage Impact Assessments, and listed building applications
  • Contributing to Local Plan work and Local List updates
  • Helping to deliver services to both public and private sector clients

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants who have:

  • A strong interest in heritage and the historic environment
  • A relevant qualification or experience in heritage, conservation, planning, architecture, archaeology, or a related discipline
  • Good communication skills and confidence working with different stakeholders
  • A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist heritage team
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work across varied projects
