Start Up Loans are not the only support on offer in Lancashire

08.01.13

People wanting to start a business in Lancashire have access to more than Start Up loans, according to Regenerate Pennine Lancashire.

Last week, the Government announced that their Start Up Loans scheme had increased in size and will provide £110m to entrepreneurs aged 18-30 across the UK. Regenerate currently supports new businesses across Lancashire with free coaching, seminars, mentoring and partial finance through start up programme, supported by the European Regional Development Scheme.

Regenerate urges new businesses to take advantage of all available Start Up support.

Rona McFall, Regenerate’s Enterprise and Employment Manager, said:

“If you are setting up a new business, applying for a loan might be a good place to start but take advantage of free coaching and mentoring too so you can ensure your business sets off on the right track.”

“The loans scheme is useful if you are aged 18-30 and do not have access to the funds needed to start a business. Our Start Up sessions are attended by people of all ages and also provide a great opportunity to network and make contacts with people in a similar position.”

Blackburn based businessman Naveed Khan is just one man who’s benefited from the programme, receiving support for a social enterprise – Lancashire Recycling and Reuse – that recycles carpets.

Naveed said: “Pennine LEAP helped me to establish my idea and turn it into a business. The taster sessions and seminars were really helpful and I would recommend them to anyone thinking of starting up.”

Regenerate will help get 1,500 businesses up and running before 2016.
