The Seven Deadly Sins of Internet Marketing

27.09.11

Does your company make use of on-line marketing?

Do you know what the “call to actions” are on your website? How many page bounces do you get?

These are just some of the questions that delegates were asked during the latest breakfast seminar run by the Lancashire Innovation Network (LIN) at Regenerate Pennine Lancashire, based at the Globe in Accrington. LIN is supported by the European Regional Development Fund.

LIN works directly with Lancashire companies to help them recognise their growth potential with an aim to increase private sector employment, encourage innovation and support the creation of higher value employment.

The new Lancashire wide programme has been made possible after Regenerate successfully secured £1.8million from the European Regional Development Fund.

Called the Seven Deadly Sins of Internet Marketing, Jane Law from Jane Law Solutions talked to businesses about the marketing mistakes that many businesses make and how to avoid the pitfalls.

She showed the audience of 60 how to troubleshoot and solve their internet issues and showed them some surprising easy fixes to get the best return for their time, effort and investment.

Jane said: “Businesses often fail to pause, take stock and reflect on their online marketing. It is about remembering the basics of marketing and effectively using the online tools that are available.”

Steve Lyden, from 0800oddjobs.com, travelled from Lancaster for the event. He said: “This event was perfect for us – we are just in the process of getting information about online marketing. I feel we are now well informed and have some knowledge that will enable us to take the next step.”

Jillian Selwood, from Purple Secret Ltd in Bamber Bridge, Preston, added: “This event was invaluable. We now realise that we have got lots of work to do. It’s all about remembering the basics and making sure we find the time to do it.”
