Job vacancy: Heritage and Conservation Assistant

14.04.21

Working across the public, private and voluntary sectors, the team at Growth Lancashire are specialists in heritage and conservation.

We are trusted by a number of Local Authorities to provide advice on planning applications for listed building consent, or proposed developments affecting conservation areas and other heritage assets. In addition, we work with Councils on a range of other heritage matters, such as undertaking Conservation Area Appraisals and supporting the delivery of projects, such as Heritage Action Zones and Townscape Heritage Initiative projects.

Most recently, we have worked with our Local Authority partners to secure a grant from the Government’s “local heritage list campaign” fund. To be completed in 2021, Lancashire is one of 22 areas which will benefit from a share of £1.5m to develop or improve local heritage lists.

Equally, we continue to experience growing demand from our private clients. We provide development advice, Heritage Statements, Heritage Impact Assessments and prepare listed building applications for a range of stakeholders, from planning consultants to developers and building contractors.

In response, we are seeking to appoint and develop an additional Heritage and Conservation Assistant on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract who will work closely with both the company’s lead officer for this area and other members of the team, helping us to continuously deliver an effective and professional service to a wide range of stakeholders, including the delivery of the Lancashire Local Heritage Lists project.

The post holder should have or be working towards a degree (or equivalent) and/or post graduate qualification in at least one of the following areas: Heritage or Building Conservation, Town and Country Planning or Architecture.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Ian Bond, Lead for Specialist services at Growth Lancashire – tel: 07811 807763.

Interested applicants are asked to submit a CV and covering letter to ian.bond@growthlancashire.co.uk detailing how they meet the knowledge/skill/ability requirements set out in section 3 of the Job Description.

Closing date: 17:00 Friday 23rd April 2021
